Terms of Service
These Terms describe the rules for using Typon and the conditions that apply to typing tests, challenges, accounts and certification features.
1. Agreement
By accessing or using Typon, you agree to these Terms of Service and the policies linked from them, including the Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy and Disclaimer. If you do not agree with these terms, you should not use the service.
2. The Typon service
Typon provides online typing tests, practice experiences, challenges, performance measurements and related features. Features can change, be added, removed, limited or temporarily unavailable as the service develops.
Typon is intended to provide a useful typing experience. Availability of a particular language, challenge, account feature or certification option is not guaranteed at all times.
3. Accounts
Some features may require an account. You are responsible for providing accurate information where the service requires it and for protecting your account credentials. You should not share passwords, authentication codes or account access with another person.
You are responsible for activity performed through your account unless you promptly report unauthorized access and the circumstances indicate that the activity was not yours.
4. Acceptable use
You agree to use Typon lawfully and in a way that does not interfere with other users or the operation and security of the service. You must not attempt to bypass access controls, manipulate test results, interfere with real-time challenge synchronization, attack the service, submit malicious code, impersonate another person, or use the service to distribute unlawful or harmful material.
Automated access, scraping, testing or other activity that creates unreasonable load or bypasses technical restrictions is not permitted unless Typon has expressly authorized it.
5. Typing tests and results
Typing results are measurements produced under the rules and technical conditions of the particular test. Results can vary because of keyboard hardware, device performance, browser behavior, network conditions, typing technique, text characteristics and other factors.
A displayed WPM or accuracy score should not be represented as an independently audited measurement unless it has actually undergone such an audit. Typon may use safeguards to maintain test integrity, but no online system can guarantee that every result is immune from every possible form of manipulation.
6. Challenges
Challenge features may allow users to compete against another participant or complete a topic-based typing session. Participants must not intentionally manipulate, disrupt or interfere with a challenge. Typon may invalidate or remove challenge results where there is evidence of abuse, technical manipulation or violation of these terms.
7. Certification
Typon certification is a service-defined testing and certificate system. Each certification level can have its own minimum speed, accuracy, duration, eligibility, cooldown, validity and verification rules. The requirements shown by the certification system for the relevant test apply to that test.
A Typon certificate is not, by itself, a government license, university qualification, professional accreditation or guarantee of employment. Users must not misrepresent the nature of a Typon certificate or imply an endorsement that does not exist.
Typon may refuse, invalidate, suspend or correct a certificate where a test was abandoned, compromised, obtained through prohibited behavior, affected by a system error or otherwise failed to satisfy the applicable certification requirements.
8. User-submitted content
If a feature allows you to submit text, a challenge title, support message or other content, you remain responsible for what you submit. You must have the right to submit the material and must not use Typon to distribute content that is unlawful, infringing, abusive, deceptive or harmful.
You grant Typon the limited permission necessary to process and display submitted content for the feature you requested and to operate, secure and improve the service, subject to the Privacy Policy and applicable law.
9. Intellectual property
Typon's software, interface, branding, original design elements and service materials are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not transfer ownership of Typon intellectual property to you.
Third-party material remains subject to the rights and terms associated with its source. Typon may use external resources for suitable typing passages and other content, and users should not assume that all displayed text is owned by Typon.
10. Third-party services and links
Typon may depend on or link to third-party services. Those services can have their own terms, privacy practices, availability and security characteristics. Typon is not responsible for the independent operation of a third-party service to the extent permitted by law.
11. Service availability
Typon is provided on an availability basis. Maintenance, software changes, infrastructure failures, security incidents, network problems and circumstances outside Typon's reasonable control can cause interruptions or changes.
12. No professional advice
Information provided by Typon is general service information. It is not legal, medical, financial, employment or other professional advice. Typing results and certificates should not be used as a substitute for requirements imposed by an employer, school, government authority or professional organization.
13. Suspension and termination
Typon may restrict or terminate access where necessary to protect the service, users, security or legal rights, including where a user violates these Terms. Where appropriate, Typon may provide notice or an opportunity to address a problem, but this is not guaranteed when immediate action is reasonably necessary.
14. Disclaimers
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Typon does not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, permanently available or suitable for every purpose. The separate Disclaimer provides additional information about test results, certificates and service content.
15. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Typon and its operators will not be responsible for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses arising from use of or inability to use the service. Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude liability that cannot legally be excluded.
16. Changes to these Terms
Typon may update these Terms as the service or legal requirements change. The latest version will be posted on this page with its update date. Continued use of the service after an applicable update may constitute acceptance where permitted by law.
17. Contact
Questions about these Terms can be sent through the Contact Typon page.
